Is The Old Stables dog-friendly?

Yes — very much so. Almost every guest who stays with us brings a dog. You'll find canal walks and countryside loops straight from the front door, and dog-friendly pubs within a few minutes' walk. We don't currently have an enclosed garden space for dogs, but there are plenty of short walks close by.

How far is Kintbury train station?

Kintbury station is a short walk from the cottage, with direct trains to Newbury, Hungerford, and London Paddington in about an hour.

Can I get here from London without a car?

Yes. Kintbury sits right on the train line into London, with direct services to Paddington in about an hour — no changes needed. Once you're here, the village and surrounding walks are all easily reached on foot.

Do I need a car during my stay?

Not necessarily. You can walk the canal towpath into Newbury or Hungerford and catch the train back to Kintbury, and the village itself has a pub, shop and walks all within a few minutes on foot. A car does open up further day trips, including the Cotswolds and Highclere, but it's entirely possible to holiday here without one.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 3:00pm and check-out is by 11:00am. Late check-out isn't guaranteed, but you're welcome to ask.

Where should I park?

If you're arriving by car, we kindly ask that you park on the road, as the shared drive is regularly used by multiple vehicles.

How many dogs are allowed?

We're happy to welcome dogs — please just let us know ahead of arrival how many are joining you so we can prepare accordingly.

Is there WiFi?

Yes — speeds are 500mb+, so streaming and remote work are both absolutely fine.

What's nearby if we fancy a day out?

Quite a lot, in every direction. The Cotswolds, including The Farmer's Dog from Clarkson's Farm, are about an hour's drive west. Highclere Castle and the North Wessex Downs are a short drive north. Newbury and Hungerford are both easily reached by train or on foot along the canal.

How do I book directly rather than through Airbnb or Booking.com?
