Kintbury station is a short walk from the cottage, with direct trains to London Paddington in about an hour. No changes, no fuss — just a straightforward journey from the city to the village.
Kintbury is easy to explore entirely on foot and by train. Walk the canal towpath east to Newbury (around 2 hours) or west to Hungerford (around 1 hour), then simply catch the train back to Kintbury. It’s a genuinely relaxed way to holiday — leave the car at home, and let the walking and the trains do the work.

Kintbury’s position in West Berkshire means you’re within easy reach of some very different days out, depending on which direction you fancy.
The Cotswolds About an hour’s drive west takes you into the Cotswolds, including The Farmer’s Dog — the farm shop and café made famous by Clarkson’s Farm. It’s become a favourite detour for our guests, and a good excuse for a scenic drive through the countryside.
North — Highclere & the North Wessex Downs Closer to home, Highclere Castle (of Downton Abbey fame) and the walk up Beacon Hill are both within a short drive, set right in the North Wessex Downs.
